Picture yourself
in the Midlands

The National Trust owns over 33,000 hectares of countryside in the Midlands, from the Peak District to the Shropshire Hills, as well as beautiful parklands and gardens. Yet, research has revealed that the average family in the Midlands spends up to 45 hours a week sat on their sofa – that's 14 weeks every year!

Picture perfect summer holidays

We invited families to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air at our fabulous gardens, parkland and countryside places.  We asked them to capture their summer adventure on film and enter their photograph into our Picture Yourself in the Midlands competition.

There was plenty of inspiration to be found, with activities ranging from moat dipping at Brockhampton to raft-making at the Longshaw Estate, storytelling at Upton House and Gardens and a wildlife wander at Kedleston Hall. The results were impressive: from over 170 entries, our judges had a tough job selecting the four category winners, but we hope you’ll agree that the winning pictures are spectacular.
